How to help Bosnian flood victims
ST. LOUIS (KSDK) — A terrible situation continues to develop in Bosnia and Serbia after three months worth of rain fell on the region in just three days — producing the worst floods in more than a century.
St. Louis is home to the largest Bosnian population outside of Sarajevo.
After seeing all of the devastation unfolding on television and social media, members of the United Bosnian Association met on Friday and decided to start a donation drive.
Some of the items they are collecting include clothing, cleaning supplies, pest control items, baby food, diapers, rubber shoes and boots.
One item they do not need is bottled water because it’s too heavy to ship.
So far, volunteers have filled three tractor trailers. Those items are already on their way to Sarajevo.
Organizers are also tracking the donations to make sure they reach the people who need them the most.
Donations can be dropped off at three locations.
