Nijaz Muratovic selected as NJCAA All-American

Nijaz Muratovic, a freshman midfielder on the Jefferson College soccer team, has been selected as an NJCAA (National Junior College Athletic Association) Soccer All American for 2013.

Muratovic scored six goals and delivered five assists for the Vikings, who finished their season at 16-7 and won the 2013 Region 16 title.

Before college, Muratovic was an all-conference performer at Mehlville High School. He is pursuing an associate degree and will study graphic design when he transfers from Jefferson College.

Jefferson head coach Ricardo Garza said Muratovic is a key player for the Vikings.

“Nijaz was a very important piece to our offense this season. Nijaz is the most creative player in our region and will do very nice things next year. I expect Nijaz to have a long and successful career.”

In addition to being named a 2013 NJCAA All American, Muratovic was also selected First Team All-Conference in the Midwest Community College Athletic Conference and was named 2013 NJCAA Region 16 Player of the Year.
